Digital Trails is an open source app that allows researchers to perform research using mobile devices.

To participate in a Digital Trails study all you have to do is install the app and enter the study code. Digital Trails will then provide you with all the information you need to participate in the study.

The data collected by Digital Trails will vary from study to study. When you initially enroll in a study Digital Trails will inform you of all the data that it will be collecting. When you aren't enrolled in a study Digital Trails collects no data.

Data collected by Digital Trails will only be viewed by researchers running studies, under normal circumstance. In the event that there is an error, technicians may view anonymized data in order to diagnose the problem.

Not at this time, but we plan to add this functionality in the future.

Digital Trails implements many layers of security to protect your data and privacy. For the first layer, we encrypt your data when it is being uploaded to the cloud and at rest. For the second layer, we store identifiable data separate from non-identifiable data. For the third layer, we have active monitoring to watch for unauthorized data access.
